I have been looking forward to photographing Shannon & Jason's wedding all year, (because they are one of the coolest couples I've ever had the pleasure of meeting!) and the whole day was every bit as magical as I anticipated! It filled my heart to capture their love for each other and the celebration of it that day. Here are just a few of my favorites...

I had the best time photographing this family! Besides Grace and Braden being dreamboats and so fun to work with; Kelly (their gorgeous Mom) loves photographs AS-MUCH-AS-I-DO! We emphasized with each other about how heartbreaking it is to (gulp... this is hard to say...) REPLACE OLDER PORTRAITS WITH NEW ONES (or cherished memories, that's what a photograph really is!) Anyone who has been in my home knows that I am physically and emotionally UNABLE to replace and continue to ADD ON. I'm going to have to make some tough decisions soon though or I will venture outside of the Realm of Good Taste and enter Shrine to Aria territory!
Melissa is so much fun, she's almost as funny as Mama!
Definitely NOT the kind of face only a Mother could love!
This is the best climbing tree a toddler could ever dream up!
Every Superhero Princess NEEDS a tutu, Really... I mean really really!
I feel so blessed at weddings because for an entire day, I get to photograph beautiful people, moments, and details everywhere I look. This wedding was one of my favorites, it was all relaxed-garden-party-elegance and Anthony & Emily are such a great couple. Love just flowed from them at all times, I loved being a part of it!
Being awake to the moment, finding new, fresh ways to photograph the essence of childhood, pregnancy, infancy, families, couples, LOVE; this is what makes my life rich and happy! I want to capture the details, the emotions & gestures that make each of us unique and beautiful. I feel this cannot be done in a mass marketed, retail setting, where the props, backgrounds and poses are tailored to some "theme" of the month, not your individual child. Children are more free to be themselves outside of a studio, free to SHINE! Childhood is about play & delight & curiosity & magic and a hundred more things that are more interesting than a stiff, formal "pose".
There are many, many things that make my heart sing, The number one, absolute best thing is being a Mommy! Aria is pure light & love & moonbeams on rosebuds and whatever else on our gentle Earth is pure joy & darlingness! (new word?) The second best thing is photographing people, especially children! As far back as I can remember, I've always felt so ALIVE behind a camera! It allows me to focus (pun!) on the details around us and within us that make each person unique & beautiful!
